After this threat Daniel was furious and following that, he went to Gabriel’s house and knocked on the door, but it was locked. Daniel informed him by certain means that if he ask for forgiveness from him, everything would be all right between both of them. Gabriel unlocked the door to patch up with his friend because he believed what he said was true.

After entering the house and locking the door behind him, Daniel battered Gabriel. He cruelly assaulted him. Gabriel tried to defend himself by some means but he failed to do so. Politically speaking, it is often connected with self-righteous moralism and conservative puritanism; nevertheless, this description just scratches the surface of the topic.

Since the genre’s inception, numerous individuals, bands, and entire scenes have associated it with progressive and radical politics. This is partly due to the belief that having a “sober mind” is the best foundation for effective political work, and partly due to the perception that the alcohol, nicotine, and drug industries are tools used by the state and capital to exploit and pacify the people. One history is broken down into a series of interviews, essays, and documents that were gathered from all four continents and compiled into this collection. As an editor, it was my job to work on this book. I was in charge of compiling it, conducting the interviews, editing the contributors’ work, putting everything in the correct order, and writing the introduction. I have been considering writing the book for quite some time, but I never imagined that I would be able to find a publisher for it. Things proceeded from that point onward because, fortunately, the people working at PM were willing to give it a chance.

It is a book that holds a great deal of personal significance for me. Since I was sixteen years old, I’ve been both straight edge and active in radical circles, and the fact that I’ve done both of these things has very frequently – and in a wide variety of settings – been met with confusion and the suggestion that this in some way posed a contradiction. In addition, I was very dissatisfied with some of the political ways that straight edge took, particularly in the 1990s when certain factions of the so-called hardline movement became overtly homophobic or condemned abortion. I found these developments particularly upsetting. Therefore, it makes me extremely happy that I was able to write a book that presents the straight edge community, which is a group that I have always identified with because its members are democratically aware and conscious, passionate and virtuous, but not judgmental or one-dimensional.

How did the book become what it is today?

To avoid sounding trite, the contributors certainly made a difference. The writing of the book was a truly enjoyable group effort that brought about a great deal of satisfaction. During the process, it was brought to my attention how compassionate and encouraging the global hardcore public still is. It was a very positive and encouraging experience that was extremely uplifting.

What do you anticipate will come of reading the book? To what do you hope it will contribute or contribute politically? What do you hope it will achieve? To tell you the truth, I expect that these writings will be read by the greatest number of people possible. Many people choose to live a drug-free lifestyle not because it is a trend or a code of conduct promising a false sense of moral superiority, but rather because they have strong convictions that motivate them to do so, and I would hope that the audience knows that the straight edge movement incorporates both progressive and radical tenets. In addition to this, I hope that the book will help raise awareness about the political consequences of the use of illegal drugs, nicotine, and alcohol. Again, the specific personal choices that the readers will make don’t matter all that much; what I want is for them to be choices that are conscious and responsible. Living straight edge is one choice, but there are many more.

So, if I get a sensation that the book enhances understanding of progressives and radical straight-edge communities and instigates conversation about the drug business, then I’d judge it a success in a larger sense. Yet, I’d never doubt the time and the work that went into it since it was all so much fun and placed me in contact with so many lovely individuals.
